Position summary:
The Historic Sites & Programs Manager is responsible for the oversight of educational initiatives, management of historic sites, and supervision of volunteer systems at the Ephraim Historical Foundation (EHF). The key components of this position are creating, sustaining, and assessing multi-generational public programs, ensuring the organization’s historic sites are staffed and operational during the open season, and coordinating volunteer opportunities. As is true for all non-profits, this person will take on additional duties and responsibilities beyond those outlined below as the Foundation’s mission and operations require and as the EHF Executive Director instructs.
•Full-time salaried position. $55,000 to $60,000 per year depending on experience.

•Reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
The Historic Sites & Programs Manager role is a highly visible position within the Ephraim Historical Foundation’s Museum environment with three primary areas of focus—program oversight (50%), historic sites management (35%), and volunteer coordination (15%). Specific responsibilities are as follows:
•Develop, implement, and assess educational programs for all ages throughout the year.
•Develop staffing plans for tours and historic sites with Executive Director.
•Ensure programs at EHF properties and at off-site locations are adequately staffed.
•Serve as point of contact for program-related inquiries.
•Oversee maintenance and cleaning schedules of historic sites.
•Supervise museum gift shop operations, including staffing, merchandise selection, and inventory control.
•Control volunteer management system.
•Grant writing as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
•Master’s degree in museum studies, or comparable degree or experience preferred.
•Knowledge of principles and best practices of education and interpretation in the cultural sector.
•Exceptional communication skills and experience interacting effectively with the adults, children, and organizational partners.
•Ability to identify and address buildings and grounds issues in a timely and effective manner.
•Experience planning annual budgetary needs and proven record in adhering to project schedules and budgets.
•Ability to prepare clear, concise, and complete analyses, reports and supporting documentation.
•Broad knowledge of current trends in museums, education, and public programming.
•Experience coordinating meetings, committees, and volunteer groups.
•Prior experience in a museum retail setting a plus
