Project Art at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) is seeking a creative and dynamic individual to serve as the Visual and Performing Arts Facilitator. Public engagement through temporary art exhibitions and performing arts events plays a significant role in supporting wellness and the overall experiences of patients and visitors at UIHC as well as the faculty and staff who work here.  The Visual and Performing Arts facilitator position relies heavily on effective communication and honed interpersonal skills. This individual will partner with a wide range of departments and groups within the hospital, across the University of Iowa, and with artists and performers throughout the Midwest.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Organize and facilitate the UIHC temporary art exhibition program by scheduling artists, coordinating art deliveries, installing exhibitions, and completing marketing materials.
Develop content for and manage Project Art’s website and social media platforms.
Assist with artwork installation for all UIHC patient centered expansion and renovation projects
Contribute to collections care efforts as needed
Facilitate performing arts events at UIHC by setting a yearly calendar of activities, coordinating performance schedules, completing marketing materials, and managing day-of set-up and teardown.

Required Qualifications:

B.A. in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
1 to 2 years of art installation experience in an art gallery, museum, or similar setting.
1 to 2 years of experience organizing public events.
Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficient with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and/or InDesign.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point.
Experience with power tools and artwork installation methodologies.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently.

Desired Qualifications:

M.F.A. or M.A in Studio Art, Art History, Museum Studies or a related field.
Knowledge of the local and regional art scene.
Knowledge of contemporary art, art practices, and terminology.
Knowledge of visual and performing arts groups and organizations throughout Iowa and the Midwest.


2A Pay Level; Minimum Starting Salary $36,342
