Description
Our Enterprise Manager is strategic and innovative in establishing the operational systems involved in the planning, developing and ongoing success of the museums’ growing suite of revenue generating business activities, specifically rental, retail and food and beverage services, setting an inviting and inclusive and mission-forward hospitality experience for MMAM. They will ensure operational excellence by drilling into the smallest of details, while focusing on achieving the strategic short and long-term business goals of the museum’s aim to create an integrated visitor experience, from start to finish, creating magnetic and meaningful experiences that explore our relationship with water.
This role is equally visible front of house as with back of house operations and is a role model of continuous energy and improvement to provide the highest level of hospitality to all MMAM visitors, donors, members, clients and constituents.
Reporting directly to MMAM’s Executive Director, serving as a key member of the museum’s Advancement Team, and with a dotted line to MMAM’s engagement and operations colleagues, this role at times, may be expected to navigate through ambiguity and will need to be excited by areas of opportunity, while at the same time dive into the details of running a destination retail shop, solicit private rental clients and coordinate relationships with contractors to meet the demands of a growing clientele.

Responsibilities will include:
RETAIL (50%)
- Managing, implementing and growing the entire museum retail experience
- Being responsible for all retail operations, including planning, selecting, buying, and pricing merchandise assortments; inventory management, product display in alignment with calendar, daily operations and brand
- Managing and growing vendor relationships
- Creating and maintaining a clean, safe, accessible, and aesthetically-pleasing retail space
- Assigning and directing retail projects to paid and volunteer staff, as needed
- Running a profitable retail store as a growing revenue source and primary visit factor
- Developing and managing an online shop
- Process, pack and ship all online orders, and in-store purchases that require shipping
RENTAL (30%)
- Implementing and growing MMAM private rental experience
- Being responsible for all rental operations, including scheduling, client communication, pricing, third-party sourcing, contracting, and daily operations
- Managing and growing client relationships
- In coordination with the museum’s facilities and programs team, creating and maintaining a clean, safe, accessible, and aesthetically-pleasing rental spaces
- Recruiting, hiring and supervising on-call event staff and volunteers, when needed
FOOD AND BEVERAGE (15%)
- Expanding, developing and growing a profitable, mission-driven food and beverage program for the museum
- Managing any third party culinary relationships
- In coordination with the museum’s facilities and programs team, creating and maintaining a clean, safe, accessible, and aesthetically-pleasing rental spaces
- Recruiting, hiring and supervising on-call event staff and volunteers, when needed
OTHER (5%)
- Regularly developing, managing and communicating sales reports and quarterly goals
- In coordination with the museum’s communications team, developing and managing a promotional plan for the store, including marketing, social media, etc.,
- Develop and implement budget to achieve desired income and expense goals
- Manage client and customer data using the museum’s customer relationship software
- Support colleagues as needed.
Position Specifics:
- Full-time (2080 hours a year), Salary Exempt, dependent on level of experience; flexibility to work a varied schedule including evenings and weekends required.

IN YOUR FIRST YEAR, YOU’LL LIKELY DEMONSTRATE:
- Inspirational leadership style combining organizational competence with strong management and interpersonal skills to effectively supervise a team
- Collaborative spirit and desire to engage with a variety of MMAM departments and outside organizations to support the MMAM’s engagement experience and programmatic goals.
- Experience in customer service, reservation systems, ticketing and point of sale procedures.
- Possess ability to problem solve in a quick and resourceful manner
- Ability to converse about themes in art and share rich information regarding MMAM programs and exhibitions.
- Knowledge of PC computer skills including cloud-based ticketing and membership systems, and Excel desired.
- Sophisticated cash-handling and reporting experience
- Ability to handle a variety of operations simultaneously.
- Proven ability to work with a wide range of personalities and people across a variety of generations.
- Stellar interpersonal social skills
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience working in a museum, arts or cultural organization.
- Experience advancing equity agendas in the for profit or not for profit sector
- Minimum of 3 years experience owning or managing a successful restaurant, retail or rental business
- 21 years of age
