The Madeline Island Museum (MIM) is situated in La Pointe, Wisconsin on picturesque Madeline Island one half block up from the ferry dock. Here, guests explore the history of the largest of the Apostle Islands. People called Madeline Island home for millennia before early European explorers and settlers arrived in the mid 1600’s. Celebrating and connecting all these various cultures is our mission. The museum consists of the Capser Center with an auditorium and rotating exhibits that was built to support the original museum which features four historic buildings from the island. Staff work with colleagues primarily indoors to connect guests with the storied past of Madeline Island and one of the richest collections of Wisconsin history.

Position Summary
The Madeline Island Museum Program and Guest Experience Coordinator is responsible for management and daily operations of the education, programs, special events, and guest support at the MIM. The Program and Guest Experience Coordinator contributes to the development and implementation of interpretative programming, PK-12 education programs, group tours, and guest support, promotes the site, and develops and maintains relationships within the Society and to external groups and partners. The MIM Program and Guest Experience Coordinator works to generate attendance, provides a high-quality guest experience, and helps to provide strategic leadership for the site and staff.
Salary Information
The salary will be between $21 – $23 per hour ($43,680 – $47,840) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. This position is in pay schedule 07, range 04; Civil service classification is Program and Policy Analyst. A12-month probationary period will be required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in all of the following:
Experience in a public facing role in an interactive learning environment such as a library, school, museum, etc.
Providing in-person guest service and customer service recovery
Promoting events or a site with social media
In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will have experience in one of the following areas:
Experience leading a team to provide guest service (booking reservations, selling tickets and merchandise, answering questions and resolving issues) at an attraction or cultural institution
Experience managing the use of a point of sales system as part of retail, food service, or box office operations
Experience with 3rd party rentals and group tour sales
