An example of this would be an Associate’s degree or technical training in an appropriate field and four years of related museum experience

Responsibilities
•
The person in this role would provide leadership and direction in the planning, development and design process and maintenance of the museum’s permanent and temporary exhibits
•
Communication of exhibit themes and messages between project teams and across the organization would be a critical part of this role as well
•
Administrative and functional supervision is exercised over approximately two full-time employees and one part-time employee
•
Provide hands-on leadership and content direction throughout the exhibit planning and design process
•
Perform exhibit maintenance for permanent and temporary displays
•
Lead the process of developing and documenting exhibit content, organizing ideas, and effectively communicating exhibit messages, themes, and interpretive goals for project teams and across the organization
•
Utilize a working knowledge of a wide range of interactive technologies and determine effective and creative methods of integrating these to enhance and promote visitor engagement
•
Collaborate with Museum programming team members to ensure exhibit themes are aligned with events and other programming activities
•
Advocate for exhibit messages throughout a collaborative development and design process, consistently guiding the project team toward design decisions that meet content goals, the perspectives of diverse reviewers and stakeholders, and applicable ADA requirements
•
Conduct research in complex subject matter independently and work closely with expert colleagues on diverse topics including local history and STEM subjects
•
Write exhibit text and scripts for audio/visual media, live auditorium shows, and other interpretive tools and products
•
Coordinate the development and installation of exhibits on Kalamazoo Valley campuses as part of ambient learning experiences and to promote the Museum as a resource
•
Work with Human Resources to hire, orient, train, and evaluate assigned staff
•
Identify and supervise external contractors, advisors, and service providers as needed
