Permanent Art Collection Curator: Responsible for stewardship, documentation, research, development and care of Indiana State University’s permanent art collection, primarily prints, ceramics and paintings. Includes providing access to collection through on-campus venues, maintenance of the catalog, safe storage of works, condition reporting and prioritization of conservation needs. Ensure focused growth of collection through strategic acquisitions and identify objects for deaccession. Will interact with Department of Art and Design faculty to foster experiential professional learning opportunities for students, collaborate with Gallery Director to plan, install and publicize exhibitions of art pieces from permanent collection. Must possess ability to establish relationships with internal and external constituencies including donors, collectors and artists, as well as a strong commitment to collaboration. Duties include grant writing and budget oversight, consulting and working with conservators, external communications and attending art committees. Reports to the Director of Special Collections, Cunningham Memorial Library.
Master’s Degree in Art History, Studio Art or Museum Studies, 3 to 4 years of experience in a museum or gallery setting required. Open until filled with full consideration until November 11, 2020. Salary range: $39,000 – $45,000.
