The City of Cedar Falls is seeking a Cultural Programs Supervisor to lead, plan, manage and oversee the activities and operations of the City’s cultural arts programs and services, including the Hearst Center for the Arts. The successful individual will coordinate assigned activities with staff, volunteers, other City departments, outside agencies and organizations, boards, committees, artists, and the general public. The position receives direction from and provides responsible staff assistance to the Visitors & Tourism/Cultural Programs Manager. Position also receives policy and program direction from the Cedar Falls Art & Culture Board.
Ideal candidates will have the following successful management experiences:
Administration: Planning; budgeting; staffing including work plan development and evaluation, training, mentoring, employee/volunteer evaluation and discipline; policy/procedure development; collaboration with outside agencies; capital project development including building expansion and new construction; effective introduction and implementation of change; ability to work variable hours and days.
Communication: Public relations, fundraising and marketing; record of successful grant writing at local and national level and administration; correspondence, report preparation and presentation; resource allocation and goal setting; strong public speaking and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide sound solutions to staff and citizen inquiries.
Artistic: Cultural services and program delivery innovation and implementation; ability to direct programming in a broad range of art forms, media, styles and content; public art.
The following experience and education are required: at least 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in the management/supervision of programs, service administration, or facility management, including two years of supervisory experience and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in art, business administration, business management, recreation administration, or related field. Candidates meeting the above minimum qualifications and that have submitted all required materials below will complete a position related questionnaire for Civil Service testing requirements. Post-offer pre-employment physical and drug screen will be required for the selected candidate, and possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid driver’s license is also required.
Current salary range: $63,660-103,434, with offer dependent on qualifications. Selected candidate will be eligible for annual merit increases and full-time benefits.
