Job Description
Carmel Clay Historical Society (CCHS) in Carmel, Indiana is seeking a new collections manager and city archivist. This joint position will be filled as soon as possible.
The CCHS collections manager will handle the accessioning of donations to CCHS and then caring for the items in the collection with best practices for cleaning, storing, and keeping the environment safe for the collection items. The manager will professionally handle requests from the public about the collection pieces.
The city archivist position involves working with city officials to receive images, scan, accession, and handle the organization of the digital images as well as the actual photos. The candidate will be taking over a grant project rehousing the City of Carmel Archives photographs. The city archivist will handle requests from the public concerning these items. The City of Carmel requires a monthly progress report.
Carmel Clay Historical Society wishes for a candidate with a museum studies degree and/or museum certificate who is personable with the public, creative, dedicated, and flexible as a team player who will step up when needed in this small museum environment. The current compensation is $17/hr. for 30 hours per week.
